Shoulda Coulda Woulda

“A beautifully messy reality is better than the most perfect dream,” so went my nephew’s Facebook post this week. Admittedly, I still think of him as the toddler who could not resist a flower off my wedding cake before we served the guests, but in reality, he’s a burly grown man now–with obvious wisdom. Bringing in the Sheaves

Little white clapboard churches with belfries and steeples conjure images of white gloves, hats, and sixties Sunday-go-to-meeting dresses. Movies like to play the old hymn “Bringing in the Sheaves” sung by shrill sopranos slightly off key to depict backward congregations out of touch with modern life.

STAYcation

Notice the pregnant belly with little brother Uriah to arrive in October. Cassie wanted a photo with all three of the kiddos, and the bonus child is Cousin Zeke.

We had the privilege of hosting our daughter and her family this week. Grandma and Papa had lots of snuggles and kisses.

Daddy held this sleepy baby girl until she dropped off, and Grandma got to sit with her while Mommy and Daddy swam.

Between our son-in-law’s dad visiting last week and our little adventure this week, we had some tuckered out little ones. Within an hour of their little house in the country, we managed to give them some good old Michigan fun with parks, beach, museums, pool, and lots of backyard BBQ and play time.

Lana wasn’t the only one sleepy. Zadok played so hard, he fell asleep in Mommy’s arms in the pool.
Zeke enjoyed cuddling up with Aunt Cassie.

Daddy starts a new job today, so they all had to go back to real life. It was fun while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end. I hope you enjoy the photos.

…and that was the view this week from My Front Porch.
