STAYcation

Notice the pregnant belly with little brother Uriah to arrive in October. Cassie wanted a photo with all three of the kiddos, and the bonus child is Cousin Zeke.

We had the privilege of hosting our daughter and her family this week. Grandma and Papa had lots of snuggles and kisses.

Daddy held this sleepy baby girl until she dropped off, and Grandma got to sit with her while Mommy and Daddy swam.

Between our son-in-law’s dad visiting last week and our little adventure this week, we had some tuckered out little ones. Within an hour of their little house in the country, we managed to give them some good old Michigan fun with parks, beach, museums, pool, and lots of backyard BBQ and play time.

Lana wasn’t the only one sleepy. Zadok played so hard, he fell asleep in Mommy’s arms in the pool.
Zeke enjoyed cuddling up with Aunt Cassie.

Daddy starts a new job today, so they all had to go back to real life. It was fun while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end. I hope you enjoy the photos.

…and that was the view this week from My Front Porch.

Live Long and Prosper

“Help! I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up.” The staged commercials always make me chuckle, but one day, I might actually fall, and I might not be able to get up. Something tells me I won’t be laughing then. [Read more…]

What do you do for a living?

When people find out I teach for a living from my home, they get confused. Then they learn my students are from around the globe, and confusion grows. How do you teach people who don’t speak English from so far away? [Read more…]

Said the Night Owl to the Morning Bird

I’m a night owl. Something about the sinking sun inspires me, and my mind just won’t shut down. My best ideas happen when others sleep, and on occasion, I find myself falling asleep as I should be rising to face the day’s responsibilities. [Read more…]

Who’s Following You?

Some of us have a knack for learning from other’s mistakes, while others have to learn through our own. Maturity says we learn from the examples of others and save ourselves the headache.

Our little guy shocked us when he was in second grade with an example none of us could soon forget. The blunder took his father with us to a home school class out of town–a full day off work–to confess a lie he told when caught up in the moment. A visiting meteorologist in science class sparked a one-upping moment from the eager little learners, and my boy could not be outdone, so he shared with tears in his eyes a completely imaginary account of losing his baby sister in a tornado. Facing that lie took help, and a father who loved him made the perfect partner. [Read more…]
