Small Town Parades – not about the candy
My grandson and I went to our small town Independence Day Parade this morning. We arrived after the parade had begun, but I had parked near the end of their route, so none of the groups had passed our location yet. I found a lovely spot in the shade very near my parking spot and parked the stroller strategically to take advantage of the then-clear view of the parade route. I looked forward to sharing with our little guy the importance of American independence, a lesson we’ll repeat to him many times through life, but a special focus on this, the fourth of July. Lessons from Babies
Meet my grandson, Ezekiel (Zeke). Don’t ya love the Mr. T look and the baby guns he’s sporting. Yes, I’m shamelessly showing him off. He’s actually two and a half now, and this is from about five months old, but it’s a favorite among my photos of him, so I couldn’t resist sharing it. I have two other grandchildren as well, and I’m sure you’ll see them very soon, but today, I’m thinking about the lessons I’ve learned watching this little guy whom I see more often.
Growing a Gardener

“…and that’s how you make stone soup,” I finished the story as I saw parents arriving, especially the parents of one particularly precocious five-year-old-ish boy under my charge for a few hours while his parents attended student leadership meetings at the small Bible school where Todd and I worked.
