I saw the featured graphic on Facebook this week, and it had a beautiful little write up about getting too focused on others to our own demise, but then I realized that sometimes we’re the bird. We’re the ones provoking others. [Read more…]
This is Us – A Colorful Family
I drank the This Is Us Koolaid, and I’m hooked. Maybe you’re a fan as well.
If not, let me give you a few nuggets to catch you up. Jack and Rebecca Pearson have triplets, but the third baby does not make it. On the same day, a fireman delivers a newborn to the hospital who had been left at the station door. The beautiful couple adopt the little black baby and fill out their Big 3 as they call them and leave the hospital with three little ones. [Read more…]
Relaxing Stresses Me Out
“Just relax,” they say. I always look confused. Relaxation baffles me. There’s nothing peaceful about it. I watch commercials with that lady in the bubble bath with the candles and the wine, and I get twitchy. I’d like to be that lady, but the reality is that by the time I actually got into that tub, I would have scrubbed it, taken the dirty rags to the laundry room and noticed I hadn’t folded the last load of laundry, switched out a load, put the towels away and noticed I had run the tub over because I forgot I started running the water. Moving… The Final Strongholds
A week ago our U-Haul rolled up to our new home, and we spent the day unloading and arranging. I’m happy to report that most areas of our home are orderly and functional, but we have a few last bastions, hanging on for dear life and rejecting any attempt at order. Our sun porch has become the dump site for cardboard and other packing paraphernalia we intend to recycle or give away for reuse. The garbage collection company where I ordered the recycle service forgot to deliver the bin, not that all that treasure would fit anyway, but alas, a small dent is still a dent, nonetheless. UHAUL Brain
So we’re moving today and tomorrow.
My husband now has his dream job as pastor at Pathway Community Church in Jackson, MI.
That led to packing, painting, writing lists–and lists of lists–cleaning, sorting, editing, and overall upending our daily lives, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
You may have thought I lost my mind if you are subscribed to this blog and kept getting a notice that I had updated only to find the link send you to a non-existent post. You’re probably right because I find myself with UHaul brain today. That’s the diagnosis, plain and simple.
I no longer have space in my brain for the day to day because I’ve invested all those resources to changing addresses, utilities, daycare, doctors, and pharmacy. We’ll probably have the smoothest move ever, followed by the realization that we have no toilet paper–wait, no, I did get toilet paper. Whew!
Prayers appreciated for Feb. 9-10 as we move out of the home I’ve lived in longer than any in my life and move on to the next adventure.
…and that’s the view from My (new) Front Porch… only it’s a side porch.
